Part II: Tuesday Jan 2 -Wednesday Jan 3

Tuesday January 2:  This morning after a long beach walk, I had breakfast with Katie at the Mango Cafe.  Since it is one of the places that wireless internet is available, one could also find Dave and Bekah there a lot!  The yogurt and fruit plate (35 pesos) is yummy!

Here is Katie getting ready on the left and there she goes out into Half Moon Bay on the right.

I had lunch in the condo today - tuna and avocado on tortillas and a smoothie - then more lying on the beach.Below are some of the views I had when hanging around on the beach - in case you wondered how I could just "be" there all afternoon!

The Rogers/ Johnson group went on a cave/ horseback expedition.  The consensus of the children was that the cave part was "boring" but they enjoyed the horses and the small zoo there.  The adults seemed to like the cave exploration as well.  Pictures that follow were taken by Bekah (except obviously someone else took the ones of her!)

In the evening, we took in the view from the roof before and during sunset, then went to dinner at La Lunita just down the road.  That was one of the few meals we had ALL together (including Mr. Penguin) and one of the best.  They have never disappointed - recommended highly!

Wednesday January 3:  Another day that we split up to do things.  Bekah and Dave went diving.  Grandpa John took Kethra and Bran to breakfast, then they did some kayaking (left), swimming in Akumal Bay, climbed the tree house at La Buena Vida (center), had lunch at Lucy's and did some more swimming and snorkeling (right).

In the meantime, Katie, Sean, Sarah, Barb and Tyler went to Tulum.  Tyler got bored with the guide fairly quickly so she and I did the "fast forward" tour and then we went to the flea market.  We watched the "upside down guys" (below left); since it was very hot, we sought an air conditioned snack bar for lunch (below right) and wandered around the market while the others saw and heard more history.  The ruins are really very interesting and well worth half a day.  A few  highlights below.

In the afternoon, everybody went down to Akumal Bay except me.  I just laid on the beach and dozed.  They seemed to have had fun.  I went to supper with Sarah, Sean, Bekah and girls at Cuevo del Pescador, which is another favorite place.  The other four ended up there, too, but about an hour later!
